Grant Ayvazyan's and Thomas Gerhart's Unsolved Problems

Hello and welcome to the Unsolved Problems presented by Grant Ayvazyan and Thomas Gerhart. At the start of COSMOS the students were informed that they were to complete a project to be presented at the conclusion of COSMOS. Grant and I chose Unsolved Problems as our topic. The reasoning behind our topic is very simple, Grant excels in mathematics entering into his Junior year and taking Calculus 3, and I excel in Web Page Design. This makes for an excellent combination... especially on a COSMOS Project.

Unsolved Problems is a topic based on several of the many unsolved math problems the world has faced in its existence. What makes this interesting is with the mathematicians and geniuses like Archimedes, Einstein, and other great thinkers from the past and present, these problems remain unsolved. What we intend to do is present these problems with their background information and other facts about the problem. We would add a solution but that would make the problem solved thus contradicting the purpose of our project. Note: That doesn’t mean we won't make an attempt to solve the problems.

Feel free to browse through our site and if you choose you may give us feedback via the contact section.

Note: These problems did not come from "spontaneous generation". We used the Clay Math Prize Problems site as a reference for our final project.
